Bayer attends CIIE for the 9th consecutive year

Shanghai, November 5, 2026 — The ninth China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened today in Shanghai. A full-attendance exhibitor for nine consecutive years, Bayer is once again bringing together its Pharmaceuticals (including Radiology), Consumer Health and Crop Science divisions to showcase global innovations and the latest local practices in healthcare and modern agriculture. At this year’s CIIE, Bayer has a dual presence at Booth A3-03 in the Medical Equipment & Healthcare Products Exhibition Area of Hall 1.1 and Booth B3-02 in the Food and Agricultural Products Exhibition Area of Hall 8.1. The company is presenting nearly 30 debuts spanning disease treatment and precision diagnostics, everyday self-care, and enhanced quality and efficiency in agriculture. Through the CIIE, Bayer is not only accelerating the introduction of global innovations to China but also helping integrate China’s needs and local insights into its global R&D network, using life science innovation to connect China with the world.

Bill Anderson, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG, remarks: “For Bayer, the CIIE is more than an exhibition. It is where people come together to exchange ideas, build partnerships, and turn innovation into real-world impact. The world faces big challenges, from improving health outcomes for growing and aging populations to producing enough food in a responsible way. No company or country can solve them alone. Progress requires openness, collaboration, and innovation. The CIIE makes that possible by bringing together partners from across industries and around the world. With more than 160 years of experience, our mission remains clear Health for all, Hunger for none. We look forward to working with partners across the innovation ecosystem, and by connecting local expertise with our global capabilities we’re determined to build a healthier, more resilient future. Next year will be especially meaningful as Bayer marks 145 years in China. Few companies have been part of China's development journey for that long, and it is something we are proud of, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.”

Eight Major Innovations Make Their CIIE Debut, Accelerating Access to Global Healthcare Innovation for Patients in China

As the Healthy China initiative continues to advance, faster access to innovative medicines and advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies is opening new possibilities for meeting patients’ growing health needs. As one of the first multinational pharmaceutical companies to achieve simultaneous global development and registration of new medicines in China, Bayer continues to increase its innovation investment in the country and uses the CIIE as a platform to accelerate the introduction of global innovations.

At this year’s CIIE, Bayer’s Pharmaceuticals Division is showcasing innovations across cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, women’s health and Radiology. Eight major Pharmaceuticals and Radiology innovations are making their CIIE debut, reflecting Bayer’s continued commitment from innovative drug development to local manufacturing and supply.

Two of the most highlighted “CIIE babies” this year are Sunharbo (Asundexian) and Hyrnuo (Sevabertinib), both of which received regulatory approval in China shortly before the opening of CIIE and made their debut at the Bayer booth immediately thereafter.

On October 26, China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) approved Sunharbo, the world’s first-in-class activated Factor XI (FXIa) inhibitor, for reducing the risk of stroke in adult patients with ischemic stroke or high-risk transient ischemic attack (TIA), excluding patients with cardioembolic stroke. The New Drug Application for Sunharbo was granted Priority Review, with approval coming approximately six months after acceptance. This enabled the global innovation to reach patients in China at one of the fastest speeds globally, demonstrating how Bayer is leveraging China’s increasingly efficient regulatory environment to accelerate access to global innovation for Chinese patients.

On Nov 4, the National Medical Products Administration approved Hyrnuo (Sevabertinib), a novel targeted therapy for lung cancer to be used as monotherapy indicated for the treatment of adult patients with unresectable, locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have HER2 (ERBB2) activating mutations. Previously approved in China for previously treated patients, it has now received approval across the full treatment setting, further expanding its clinical use in China and advancing precision treatment for HER2-mutant NSCLC into earlier lines of therapy.

The CIIE continues to witness Bayer’s innovative therapies expanding the boundaries of patient benefit. Following its 2022 approval in China for adults with chronic kidney disease associated with type 2 diabetes, Kerendia (Finerenone) received an additional indication in May 2026 for adults with heart failure and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of 40% or greater. In July this year, an application for a new indication in non-diabetic chronic kidney disease was also submitted in China. The CIIE will continue to showcase how this innovative therapy may bring new hope to more patients living with chronic diseases.

In addition, Nubeqa (Darolutamide) is making its first CIIE appearance following approval of its third indication. In combination with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), it is approved for patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC), with or without docetaxel chemotherapy. The marketing application for Eylea 8 mg for the treatment of macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion (RVO) has been formally accepted by China’s Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE), and an application for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) is expected to be submitted soon. This is also its first CIIE appearance following submission of a new-indication application.

Precision diagnosis and treatment depend on advanced imaging technologies. At this year’s CIIE, Bayer is also presenting its latest Radiology innovations. Gadoquatrane injection is making its China debut at this year’s CIIE. Its marketing application has been accepted by China’s CDE for contrast enhancement in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in adults and pediatric patients of all ages, including neonates. The MEDRAD Mark 7 Arterion Injection System, which received registration as a domestically manufactured medical device in April 2026, is making its first CIIE appearance following localization, highlighting Bayer’s continued progress in strengthening local manufacturing and supply capabilities for advanced imaging equipment.

The KANGWANG Selenium Sulfide Shampoo Pro, a “CIIE baby,” is also on display. Its 1% selenium sulfide for professional dandruff and oil control provides long-lasting protection for a fresh and healthy scalp. In infant skincare, two “CIIE babies”—Bepanthen B5 Essence Cream and the Bepanthen B5 Essence Hydro-gel Series—are also being showcased. Bepanthen B5 Essence Cream is specially developed for babies with atopic-prone skin. Featuring the brand’s core active ingredient, pro-vitamin B5, together with vernix-inspired ingredients, it helps quickly soothe itching, reduce redness and strengthen the baby’s skin barrier. Making its global debut, the Bepanthen B5 Essence Hydro-gel Series includes a facial gel cream and an all-over micro-gel lotion. Their rich sorbet texture melts on contact and is designed for babies’ skin in summer. Featuring pro-vitamin B5, the range helps quickly soothe sun-related redness, cools and moisturizes the skin, and strengthens the baby’s skin barrier.

From scalp health and skin health to health management across different life stages and everyday scenarios, Bayer continues to harness scientific innovation to meet consumers’ diverse self-care needs. Also making their global debut at this year’s CIIE are Elevit Kids Lactoferrin Powder, Elevit Liquid Calcium for Pregnancy, One A Day Liquid Glucosamine Calcium, One A Day Women’s Health All-in-one Pro and One A Day Lutein Vision Care. Spanning maternal and child health, nutritional supplements and other areas, these products further expand consumers’ choices for proactive health management.

Eight China Debuts and Six CIIE Debuts: Advancing Food Security Through Agricultural Innovation

Advancing agricultural modernization and high-quality development requires sustained innovation in science and technology. Rooted in China for more than 60 years, Bayer Crop Science continues to combine global innovation resources with the practical needs of Chinese agriculture. Through innovations across its three business areas in China—crop protection, corn seed and vegetable seed—the division contributes to the country’s food security. At this year’s CIIE, Bayer Crop Science is showcasing eight China debuts and six CIIE debuts.

Addressing crops’ needs for nutrition and stress tolerance, Bayer launched its Crop Performance Enhancer brand Delai at the 2025 CIIE. This year, the brand is showcasing Delai Amino-acid Magnesium as its “CIIE baby.” As Bayer’s next-generation biostimulant, the product is rich in 19 free-form L-amino acids that work in synergy with active magnesium to provide more efficient, targeted nutritional support at key stages of crop growth. The progression from the brand’s launch to the unveiling of a new addition to its portfolio further illustrates the CIIE’s spillover effect in bringing innovation into practice.

Ougude and Fengkeqi, Bayer’s two next-generation SeedGrowth products newly launched this year, are also making their CIIE debut. Designed to address early-season management needs in corn, peanut and wheat, the two products provide protection against diseases and pests from an earlier stage. Each has been validated in more than 200 local trials, demonstrating consistent performance and practical value across different regions and growing conditions.

High-quality seeds are also a vital foundation for food security. At this year’s CIIE, Bayer’s Dekalb corn seed brand is introducing eight new corn varieties in China. Tailored to the diverse growing needs of the Northeast, Northwest and Huang-Huai-Hai corn-growing regions, the expanded portfolio offers growers more choices to meet their expectations for better yields, stress tolerance, disease resistance, lodging resistance, and high grain quality. Bayer’s vegetable seed brands Seminis and De Ruiter are also showcasing a range of flavorful varieties including tomato, sweet corn, sweet pepper, onion, cucumber, and broccoli, and debuting Starlisher (DRTC8103), a new truss cherry tomato variety. These varieties meet the diverse needs of growers and consumers, connecting field and table through innovation.

Innovation is extending beyond products to agricultural services and knowledge empowerment. The Dekalb Learning Center, which brings together field trials and demonstrations, agronomic training and knowledge sharing, is making its CIIE debut. Meanwhile, Bayer Crop Science’s e-commerce flagship stores are participating in the expo for the first time, bringing professional agricultural solutions to a broader range of scenarios through channels such as Tmall and JD.com.

Connecting China and the World Through Open Innovation and Unlocking Two-Way Value Through the CIIE

Over nine years at the CIIE, Bayer has continued to use this open platform to connect global resources with opportunities in China. On the one hand, it accelerates the introduction of global R&D achievements and solutions to China. On the other, it helps bring practices shaped by China’s needs, local insights and partnership models to a broader stage, creating a two-way flow of innovation.

During this year’s CIIE, Bayer will host dozens of partnership signings, achievement launches and dialogue sessions across its two booths, bringing together government bodies, medical and research institutions, industry associations and business partners. The booths will serve as platforms connecting China’s innovation ecosystem with global collaboration networks. The Pharmaceuticals Division will deepen collaboration in clinical research, research translation, primary healthcare capacity building and the prevention and treatment of major diseases, helping integrate experience from China’s clinical practice and scientific research into global R&D. The Consumer Health Division will focus on self-care, scientific evidence and industry collaboration. Through industry forums, joint laboratories, partnership signings and product launches, it will help bring insights from Chinese consumers, local R&D achievements and partnership models to broader markets, contributing China’s insights to global health development.

Looking ahead, Bayer will remain rooted in China and connected to the world. It will apply its innovation capabilities in life sciences to meet China’s evolving healthcare and modern agricultural needs, while continuing to deepen local innovation, open collaboration and industry partnerships. In doing so, Bayer aims to move more innovations from the exhibition floor to the market, from research to application, and from products into everyday life—creating long-term value together with the Chinese market and its partners.
